Furthermore, while the shock from the HV can be quite painful due to the capacitance of the CRT envelope, it is not nearly as likely to be lethal since the current available from the line connected power supply is much greater.
Because I record a lot of programs and therefore my PVR is on for most of the evening, it makes sense to also use it to watch TV as it saves having to continually switch between the TV and AV channels all night. If I wanted to use an outdoor aerial, I’d need to have it installed on my roof top chimney which is very high up in order to get good reception and it would probably become weather beaten over time.
