Tip by E ScottD on Step 14 18 hours ago Upvote 0 A couple of things, that I can see that would help your project would be to install a ground rod on the generator or the box leading to the generator grounding the circuit. It could preclude instances of getting shocked if touching something energized a hotplate and a device already installed in the home the stove, range hood etc.. Adding a ground rod would help. Also don’t run any high end appliances while on generator unless you keep a close eye on the fuel level. When the generator runs out of fuel, it dosen’t just stop, it runs down. While it is doing this it will decrease the amount of voltage to the house. Find an old picture tube type TV if ya have to have a TV. Tip by Philbert D 1 day ago Upvote 0 Great write up. You do not know what is happening ‘upstream’ from you and could introduce power to lines currently being worked on. I have an almost exact setup to yours with a pair of load meters added and, except for the above mentioned step-order change, virtually identical startup procedures.
Refrigerators may leak from a variety of locations. Fortunately, most leaks are quick and easy to repair, and fixing a leak on your own will save a great deal of money. Steps 1 Fixing a Leak from the Lower Front of the Refrigerator or Freezer Door Clogged drain tubes from self-defrosting refrigerators are often the culprits for leaks from the bottom of a refrigerator. Fixing the clog usually fixes the leak. A tube or channel usually directs the melted water into a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator.
In some refrigerators, you will also have to remove the floor panel.
Place the end of the water line you intend to connect to the refrigerator into a 5-gallon bucket. Turn the cold water supply valve on beneath the sink. Let 1 or 2 gallons of water run through the new line to remove the air. Turn off the supply line.
Long story short, floor was laid improperly over cut next to the cupboard beside the refrigerator. We paid them to do the floors and reconnect the fridge and waterlines to the ice maker. All three said when valves sit and dry out, the washers dry out causing leaks. They all said it should have been clear upon hook up. It leaked down and inside the wall as well as under the carpet on the other side of the wall newly installed too , and under the vinyl.
It went under the counter next to the fridge and into the pantry walls and floor. We didn’t know it was leaking 4 months until my carpet was wet since the water went under the vinyl flooring instead of over it. The installation company said it wasn’t their fault, but the installer they claim now is only a contractor has insurance.
Apparently it had been leaking for awhile because when I pulled the fridge out, I found the water had been draining toward the back wall, quietly warping our hardwood floor. Thanks for nothing, Whirlpool. All the screws on my fridge had the slot in the top, so you could do it all with just the screwdriver. It lifts out, no tools required.
Remove the 2 screws at the front of the rails, then lift up the rails slightly on each side, to slide the basket forward.

I have seen many valves have a hairline crack in the actual blue plastic housing, at a mold injection seam, where the plastic meets the metal portion of the valve, out the top of the solenoid housing, the part of the valve that looks like one half of a snap button on a pair of old jeans. If your leak is anywhere BUT precisely at the inlet connection, you need a new valve. If your leak is indeed at that connection, check a couple of things.
First, turn the water off after you determine source of leak. If its copper you are using, which is much better than plastic btw, major drawback is that it can kink, but major plus is its much more durable than plastic.. This setup puts the least amount of stress on the water line when pulling out to clean behind unit. If you are using plastic tubing, major drawbacks, can crack, split and spring pinhole leaks, you will do two things different.
Instead of a copper ferrule or sleeve, you will use a plastic one, in addition you will also use a metal insert piece that inserts into the end of the plastic tube, which again should be cleanly cut, having a circular end that is square to the side with no burrs, this insert prevents the plastic line from pinching inward, which would prevent a tight seal, causing a leak. When using plastic tubing, Be careful not to overtighten. You can tape the line to the back of the fridge, to prevent it from being rolled on when you push it back.
Also, dont use the entire plastic line that comes with these kits, so that you have a bundle of 40 feet of water line sitting on the floor behind your fridge.

Oct 22, · The guys from Sears put in the fridge and tried to hook the water line to the fridge, but the plastic tubing was torn. Both pieces were there, but they were separated into two. The Sears team said they couldn’t install it, and recommended I patch the two tubes back together.

Fridge and freezer work great and the ice maker is supposed to working, but the people we bought it from never had the ice maker hooked up. So it’s not horrible if the ice machine doesn’t work but it would be great if it did! We got the cold water source all ready to go, but looking to run the line to the fridge, we discoved that it didn’t have the usual threaded waterline connection. Instead there appears to be a small rectangular inset box with openings to either side feeding into the waterlines for the cold water and ice maker.
Most of the outside to the back of the fridge is enclosed but there’s a little rectangular opening that looks like where you’d plug in the water input line sort of like a phone jack – but just smooth edges. Are any of you familiar with this set-up?
A leaking water inlet can spell disaster for your kitchen, check that first. If your fridge has a water dispenser or ice marker, there is a plastic tube in the back that brings in water.
For all intents and purposes it was my dream house — simple, noble, roomy — with lots of projects. The kitchen was extremely outdated when we bought the house, but I explained to my wife that I needed to underpin the foundation walls and reinforce the sagging floors before I could remodel the kitchen. Melissa had other ideas: She wanted help with the baby. No long, loud, dusty projects, but rather weekend trips and time with friends and out-of-town family.
She wanted a new refrigerator.
